Can a small island be a source of inspiration for modern thought?
The 5th LIF under the theme “Human Geographies” returns to the island of Sikinos from the 28th to the 31st of August and invites the public to discover modern creativity that engage with ecology, anthropology, and science in the enduring dialogue about the relationship between humanity and nature.
The island frontier, which like life itself emerges from the liquid element, becomes the principal space for exploring modern contradictions of human geography through a multi-thematic program of outdoor screenings, audiovisual performances, VR projects, installations, podcasts, experiential walks and live music journeys.
Higher academic institutions in Greece are also giving dynamic participation in the festival with project teams from the University of Western Macedonia and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki developing on-site projects in interaction with the monument of Episkopi and exploring aspects of the biotic interactions between humans, history and the environment.
5th Little Islands Festival composes a multitude of actions open to the public that invite artists, residents and visitors to become fellow travelers.
