ABOUT

gr

A summer festival about people, places, ideas and images.

The Little Islands Festival is a celebration of audio-visual arts that originates from Sikinos and aspires to connect more and more small Greek islands.  An open space for meeting and creative interaction that brings together the Aegean landscape with contemporary culture and the dynamics of new media.

Like every small island, we want to be part of the place but also part of the journey. That is why we support artistic creation that seeks new places and ways of expression, while at the same time highlighting the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, uniqueness and strength of small communities around the world.

Our program hosts a wide range of projects that bear the characteristics of the digital medium, including: installations, projection mapping, A/V performances, VR, site specific art, music, video art, animation, short films, documentaries, and workshops.

In collaboration with artists experimenting with contemporary audio-visual media, we foster dialogue to decentralize artistic creation, encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge, and actively support interaction between place, artists and visitors.

LIF is, ultimately, a contemporary multidisciplinary festival that reclaims public space and creates new landscapes on old sites.

Creative Islands & New Media

The civil non-profit organization Creative Islands & New Media is active in the field of culture and digital creation through the realization of novel activities and events, with Cyclades as their hub. The main aims of the organization are to empower the decentralization of artistic expression and the circulation of cultural goods to island communities as well as to promote Aegean cultural heritage through art and technology. The central activity of the organization is the Little Islands Festival focusing on audio-visual arts, which is framed with a series of parallel actions such as residencies, projects production and educational workshops for all ages and groups.
