Engram (Human Memory), (2017), 2:33min

Engram (Human Memory), Flaminia Celata (IT)

The video is part of a bigger working progress project about the Human Memory.
We usually preserve more those memories which affect our emotions and feelings. Every time we go through the process of recollecting our past memories, we recreate them, because the memory system is dynamic and mutable. What happens if we lose memory day after day due to a memory disorder? It’s a question I ask myself with this video-performance, a MRI projection of the brain of my mother, who is losing memory.
The video is an attempt to fix the present in the memory, searching a key for the future.
